Whenever I am in a need of gifts, I usually look for items with a meaning, something to show my loved ones that I really care and invest more time and thought picking a gift than just going on Amazon and clicking a button.
My two favorite stores for personalized gifts are Things Remembered and Personalization Mall. They have many similarities, but are also a little different. I have tried buying things from both and can compare them impartially.
All said and done, my orders always arrive in less than a week. This means that gifts from Personalization Mall are not last minute kind of deal, but it doesn’t take weeks of planning either.
I love the quality of everything I got and how everything arrives nicely packed and never broken.
So far I have got two metal water bottles with my kids’ names, two mugs for kids with their names and a message from us, a lilac candle with kids’ picture on it, a canvas pencil holder, and a metal bookmark with red tassel.
My kids are using their water bottles at school every day and love having tea from their mugs.
The pencil case and the book mark are used less often, but they will grow into them later. And the candle is for me, sitting on my work desk still brand new – I am kind of hesitant to burn and use it up.
Shopping at Personalization Mall can become quite pricey, but there are always some kinds of sales and coupons to be found.
The best time to shop for certain items is at the end of that season, for example, Valentine’s Day gifts a couple of days before and right after February 14. But even without that, you can always find something nice in Sale section, which is where you should start your shopping, always.
One thing to watch out for is shipping charge, which you can avoid if you order $49 or more worth of stuff, so never go for just one candle. I also used 20% off coupon for my order, so promo codes are definitely there for you to find and to save with.

Things Remembered is another great option for all things personalized. What I like about them is that I can go to a mall, visit their store, and touch all the items before buying. This way I can evaluate the quality and also get my gift right away, so no planning is needed.
In my opinion, the quality of products at Things Remembered rivals that of Personalization Mall. Everything I touched and looked at was just beautiful and made to perfection. The main difference is the speed of getting stuff personalized – you pick an item and they get it engraver for you right way, so you can go there on the morning of somebody’s birthday and have it made to be gifted that evening. You can do all your engraving and personalization planning at Personalization Bar section in the store. How convenient is that?
Together with a higher quality comes a higher price, but that is to be expected since we always pay for what we get. The difference is not huge, but significant. Good news – there are coupons to be discovered too. I used 15% off promo code and saved a nice chunk of cash.
One other way to save some money is to join the Rewards Club and earn 1 point for $1 spent. 50 points give you $5 off your next order, so that’s like getting 10% back for all your shopping.
I think that besides gifts for family and kids, you can find exclusive looking items for your boss or important clients, more so than at Personalization Mall.
If you are looking for gifts for kids with a budget in mind, I would go for Personalization Mall, even though piggy banks and world globes are stunning at Things Remembered.
I would also say that selection of products is a little bit wider at Personalization Mall. It all comes to what you are looking for – quality or quantity, even though I am 100% happy with the quality I saw from Personalization Mall.
At Things Remembered I loved all kinds of Valentine’s Day items, from heart necklaces, metal water bottles for just $19.99, and handy thermoses for him, to pendant trees with little hearts with grandkids’ pictures for mom, personalized picture frames for any occasion, and beautiful globes with cute piggy banks.
I think it’s very nice that Things Remembered offers free keepsake box with certain purchases and free logo setup with $50+ orders. I am not very crazy about $10 fee for personalization, which is totally free at Personalization Mall, but as I said before, you have to pay up for higher quality and exclusive style.
I also noticed a big section of all things related to weddings.
I think that wedding celebration itself and various gifts for newlyweds with engraved date and names are the best artifacts to remember the special day by and to decorate the event with.
After exploring and trying both stores, I will have hard time to decide where to shop next time. I think it has to depend on occasion – more casual needs can be fulfilled by Personalization Mall and more exclusive ones will go to Things Remembered.
