While we have plenty of sales and enticing deals happening all the way through November and Christmas, most discounts don’t end on December 25th anymore. In fact, some after Christmas sales are even bigger than before the holiday. After Christmas is a perfect time to take a break from shopping for someone else and treat yourself to a gift or two.

When do those sales start?
December 21st usually marks the beginning of After Christmas sales, at least in the previous years. Neiman Marcus has been kind of a pioneer in this all by offering free overnight shipping, delivering after Christmas goodies before Christmas! While this deal might not be matched very widely, expect all kinds of discounts between Christmas and New Year.
What are the best things to buy during after Christmas sales?
Holiday Décor
This is an obvious one. Shopping for decorations after the holiday is over requires a type of patience because you won’t be able to use your purchases right away, but it makes perfect financial sense.
This will save you a ton of money and you will have your house best on the block next year for least.
Seasonal décor sales start at various times.
Home Depot, for example, starts selling its Christmas merchandise at 50% off on December 24, but this is good only for people who last minute realize that their yard is not complete for Christmas without an inflatable snow man. All others should wait for a couple of days.
Come December 26th and we are going to start seeing 80% off on many items and it will last until after New Year. Keep in mind that items will become limited as the week goes on due to shopping by people like you.
The best after Christmas sales last year were recorded at Macy’s, Amazon, Hallmark, and Lowe’s, so those are places to check out for your ornaments and festive everything this year too.

Fashion apparel
Clothing and accessories sales were huge last year, so we are expecting similar situation in 2019. In fact about 1/3 of all post-holiday sales were clothing in 2018.
The best discounts are going to be on clearance merchandise. J. Crew Factor, for example, discounted their clearance offerings by additional 60-70%.

Video Games
There are plenty of video games before Christmas, of course, but if you are not able to find the perfect one for you, don’t worry – all kinds of premium stock is being discounted after the holiday. Last year we saw $4 Titanfall 2 for Xbox and $46 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo.
Steam Winter Sale for PC gamers ran from December 20 to January 3 last year, so expect great deals this year too. The PlayStation Store usually has sale from the middle of December to the beginning of January.
Electronics
While electronics are very big for Black Friday and before Christmas, most stores want to continue selling well into January, so expect to see deals on all kinds of gadgets and technology. Sales cover a wide range of products, from TVs to Bluetooth speakers.
As always, the prices are on refurbished products, especially smart phones.

People are ready to hit their New Year resolutions of losing weight in January and sporting goods stores know that. The best days to look for heavily discounted exercise equipment are December 26 – January 4.
