How to Save Money at Staples
Some people like frequenting office supplies stores, others hate it, but either way we all have to buy paper, pencils, staples, and ink there whether we like it not. Besides paper and ink, the store offers some great deals and deep discounts on many other products that you can use for your home office or small business needs.
Staples.com is also great if you don’t feel like making a trip to a physical store. You can find something special online every day.
Whichever way of shopping you prefer, we are here to help you maximize savings with our tips and advice about frugal shopping at Staples:
Staples is very confident that they have the best deals around. The store is ready to back up that claim with money – if you find something cheaper somewhere else, including on Amazon, all you have to do is bring the proof and get the price matched. It gets even better: if you bought something and noticed that the price went down within 14 days, you will also get the difference back. This goes for physical and electronic purchases.
Daily and weekly deals
Staples advertises one different special offer on its website every day, so visit them, and visit often. Weekly ads are also great and can save you some significant money – imagine getting a 24-pack of Duracell AA batteries for $6.99 instead of $19.99. If that’s not amazing, then we don’t know what is!
Clearance Deals section on Staples website should be the very first stop for everybody. All items that need to go will be there, including low-priced furniture, office supplies, and even electronics.
You will get 5% cash back on every purchase, free shipping, and special event invitations if you become Rewards program member. There is no membership fee. All members can also get $2 back for each recycled ink cartilage, as long as it doesn’t exceed 10 per month and if they bought at least $30 worth of toner or ink in the past 6 months.
Plus or Premium levels
Big spenders get more benefits, of course, and Staples shoppers are no exception. If you become a Plus level member, you can enjoy the same benefits as the base level plus free EasyTech services and Staples “Office on the Go” program for all those mobile workers. You will also earn 100% back in rewards up to $10 or $20 in the Premium level. This third tier level adds discounts on Copy & Print services, increases the time to claim the rewards from 3 to 6 months, and gives access to special events before everybody else. Plus and Premium level members can recycle 20 cartilages per month.
Staples made rebates easy – no long forms or mailing needed. At the checkout you will get a receipt and a rebate form with the rebate number. All you have left to do is log in to StaplesEasyRebates.com and enter the rebate number. The check will arrive in about a month. Rebates will apply even if you are using coupons or rewards.
Discounted gift cards
Those pre-owned gift cards can be a very valuable tool to save money before you even head out to the store. Check out Raise or Gift Card Granny for gift cards that are anywhere from 3% to 8% off face value.
This method is a bit tricky because it’s up to individual store to make such decisions. Some stores will accept competitor coupons, others won’t, but it doesn’t hurt to nicely ask. Don’t try it online. OfficeMax or Office Depot would be the closest competitors with the most similar items and deals, so bring it on.
Emails and social media
We spend so much time checking our emails and social media pages, so we might as well make it all work for us. Sign up for Staples email newsletter or follow them on Twitter or Facebook and learn about hot buys and sales. You can also get the latest coupons in your inbox or mailbox, so sign up for paper newsletters while you’re at it. It can never be too many discounts.
