Welcome to my first Splendid Spoon review!
The New Year marks the new beginning of me, or at least the skinnier version of me. I imagine many women experience the same desire after all the holiday cooking and eating while stuck at home during school break and bad weather.
While I am ready to change my diet, I am looking for healthy options versus full-blown weight loss diet. I am not overweight, so drastic weight loss is not needed. I say this because I have tried heavy hitters like Nutrisystem, South Beach Diet, and Medifast. None of them was for me – meal delivery service with low-calorie microwavable entrees and too sweet snacks were simply too restrictive and not tasty at all, let alone all the chemicals and preservatives they contain to have such long shelf-life.
And then I discovered Splendid Spoon! This company is also not ranking for weight loss; in fact it’s not their message at all. Splendid Spoon is all about clean plant-based food, total body reset and healthy living. They seek harmony with food and environment; they provide tasty options of meals that have no animal products and byproducts, which mean no dairy and animal fat. Splendid Spoon is loved by vegetarians for obvious reasons. And while the food plan is not for weight loss, people end up feeling better and losing weight while on this plan.
Splendid Spoon provides breakfast smoothies and lunch soups, dinner is up to you, which I absolutely love! I can feed my family fast or more elaborate meals in the morning and for lunch without indulging myself and then create something healthy for the entire family to enjoy. We all have very different schedules during the day, but dinner is a family meal to catch up and enjoy each other. After eating healthy meals all day I can enjoy dinner guilt-free.
To test this diet I ordered 5-day supply of smoothies and 10 days of soup and fell in love from day 1. I am on day 2 so far and would like to share my experience with you to encourage you to give Splendid Spoon a try if you are thinking about resetting your body or just eating better to feel better.
The entire experience with Splendid Spoon has been great, from creating an account, picking my flavours of smoothies and soups, to receiving my order promptly and in a nicely insulated box. The meals came stacked with soups on top and smoothies on the bottom, wrapped all around in insulated thick paper that went right to recycling and created no waste. All bottles and soup containers are recyclable too.
The first day I had Banana Flax Smoothie and Ikarian Stew. The smoothie was a little unusual, and that has something to do with my dislike for smoothie texture in general. I am not a smoothie kind of girl. I also don’t like bananas, although I have to admit that banana flavor was very mild, almost unnoticeable. I really tasted coconut and lemon, with little pieces of almonds and flax seeds. So while the flavor didn’t wow me and I had to chew after each sip, I loved the list of ingredients: purified water, bananas, coconut nectar, lemon juice, almonds, coconut oil, pea protein, flax seeds, Himalayan salt, and vegan probiotics. The entire smoothie had 240 calories, 3g of fiber, no added sugars, 8g of protein, Calcium Iron, and Potassium.
The Ikarian Stew soup tasted heavenly – just a tad spicy, lots of tomatoes, black-eyed peas, fennel, onions, extra virgin olive oil, dill, sea salt, lemon juice, black pepper, and rosemary. The soup had 220 calories, but was very filling. It had carbs, no added sugar, 6g of naturally occurring sugars, 5g of protein, Calcium, Iron, and Potassium.

I ended up eating a banana for breakfast the first day and an apple after lunch, which was plenty to keep me full and healthy. That’s like 600 calories all day! No wonder people lose weight while eating this tasty food and not starving. I also love the convenience of Splendid Spoon meals, because breakfast is on the go and lunch just needs 4-minute warmup. I work from home, but if I had to go to the office, I would grab the smoothie and the soup each day and be set to lead the healthiest life possible worry-free!
Second day menu included Green Matcha Smoothie and Carrot Lentil Curry soup. Both were fantastic! The smoothie was really smooth and light, while also thick and filling. I loved tasting avocadoes and lemon juice. It also included bananas and dates, which are generally not my go-to fruit, but I couldn’t really taste them. Totally 10 out of 10 for the smoothie!
Lentil soup is my favorite in general, but add curry to this bouquet of flavors and I am sold. I really loved the soup with its carrots, coconut milk, black lentils, onions, organic celery, coconut oil, orange juice, lemon juice, curry, and seasoning. The smoothie contained only 190 calories, the soup – 380. Again, healthy and filling options with organic ingredients!
All the meals require refrigeration, which is a good sign and means that there are no preservatives. Reading the labels on every bottle confirmed that.
This is what else I have to look forward to:
- Brown Rice Taco Bowl
- Parsnip Apple Puree
- Masala Khichri
- Channa Potato Stew
- Butternut Turmeric Soup
- Cauliflower Potato Chowder
- Pumpkin Pear Bisque
- Fennel Consomme
- Carrot Ginger Smoothie

- Strawberry Goji Smoothie
All in all, this busy mom is loving her Splendid Spoon and is definitely going to be ordering more!
