Upgraded Things Remembered Stores
Things Remembered is a retailer specializing in personal products and gifts. In an effort to stay relevant and ahead of the curve in these modern times, all 176 physical store locations are undergoing some innovations and upgrades. All of them now have iPads and 1/3 of them feature “Personalization Bars”, where customers can sit down, design personalized items, and even watch their creation and idea materialization.
Such interactive technology has been introduced in steps and for a while customers were informed about the awesome changes that were coming when visiting the stores or the website. Everybody is invited to come to the stores and attend events, especially during the holiday season, to get to know the new technology and features. The events include trunk shows, launch parties for new products, celebrations of weddings and birthdays, and various Christmas related festivities.
Customers are invited to use the iPads and create personalized gifts for loved ones or preview and update their designs as a part of creation process. Designers and personalization experts will be on hand for help and all the questions.
Things Remembered brand in general will be undergoing some modernization and changes, according to the company. The new updates are a part of the new store prototype and brand that will be evolving to focus on customer experience and the uniqueness of expanding personalization capabilities and new products.
All of those changes are a part of effort to recover from bankruptcy filing, $120 million debt, and sale to Enesco last February. There were rumblings that all the stores will be closing, but thanks to a deal with Enesco, 176 remained opened, but changes were desperately needed.
In order to get customers back into the stores, more than great products displayed are needed in today’s competitive and increasingly e-commerce climate. Many traditional retailers are beginning to understand that if they want people in their brick and mortar stores, they will have to provide a shopping experience worth leaving home for. While the concept is clear, implementing it and finding innovative ways to be relevant is challenging to say the least.
Things Remembered hopes that adding iPads and Personalization Bars will foster better relationship with their customers and will help them unleash their creativity while making gift shopping easier and more fun for everybody involved.
With retailers big and small going through changes and focusing on consumers versus just product offers, Things Remembered might be right on the money. Or not. It remains to be seen, but the steps taken so far are really plausible and the future is now more hopeful than before. Cheers to 2020 and personal, thoughtful, and engaging shopping experiences everywhere!
