Fun Facts about Motel 6
Motel 6 is a long-standing American budget travel staple and we hope it’s not going away any time soon. The motel chain was founded in Santa Barbara in 1962 and since the beginning specialized in comfort and best value. The philosophy here was and still is very simple – travelers need a clean bed, a clean shower, comfortable room, and nice service. The extra bells and whistles are nice, but definitely not needed at some locations and for certain type of travelers, who either travel long distances on business or go on vacation to experience things instead of sitting in all tricked out hotel rooms away from home.
Motel 6 is proud to offer all the basic amenities for their customers. Those include free local phone calls, free coffee, full cable with HBO, ESPN, CNN, TNT, and many others. All kids less than 18 stay free at all Motel 6 locations. Pets are always welcome at no additional cost, which is rare and very important to traveling pet parents. Many Motel 6s have swimming pools, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi for just $2.99 for 24 hours.
The chain is undergoing major renovations now, understandably, after being loved since 1962, and currently has 175 remodeled locations open. Renovations include hardwood floors, black granite countertops in the bathrooms, new TV sets, MP3 capability, and banquette seating.
The price of accommodations interest Motel 6 patrons even more than the new updates and the brand has always delivered in that department. This is not going to change now either. Granted, you can’t get a room for $20 anywhere anymore, but the rates at Motel 6 leave everybody pretty happy.
